Classical Orchestra Website Design

Friends of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra promotes the work of the State Orchestra by raising awareness and knowledge about classical music. Zefxis was honoured to work in partnership with the association and produce a tribute website to Classical Orchestra.  Our target was to bring the art of classical music closer to the general public.

The Classical Orchestra website incorporates an extensive referential library to all instruments used in classical music.  The instruments are presented according to their categories (strings, woodwind, brass and percussion).

Each instrument is accompanied by a short summary of its historical origins; its initial crafting and consequent developments through the centuries.  For the musical adepts, the range of the instrument is visually presented using music staff schematics.  The instrument is also accompanied by photographs and audio clips, the latter belonging to famous symphonic pieces in which the specific instrument figures prominently.

Other equally important features include a glossary of terms, as well as an interactive map that shows where all instruments are positioned during an orchestral performance.

Thanks to our carefully-crafted code, proper use of textual material and the Genesis CMS powering the site design, we managed to position the Classical Orchestra site among the first results returned from Search Engines (for highly relative keywords, such as instrument names).As a result, it quickly became known to a wider public.
